Refs Needed!

Refs Needed

Looking for a little exercise, fun and stay involved in lacrosse while making money?

The Maine Lacrosse Officials Association (MLOA) is looking for referees for this upcoming season.

There is a shortage and referees are always needed at the youth and high school level. It can be a great part time job as you are able to block out certain days and times you are available.

After some class instruction and exam, candates will be ready to get on the field.

Here is the adult registration form.

For current players ages 14-18 that would like to become a junior official, register here.

Learn-2-Lax for K-2

Back Bay is excited to offer a new Learn-2-Lax program this spring for grades K-2. Equipment will be provided.

Typical stations will include fun ways to learn lacrosse including sharks and minnows, hungry hippo, shooting and obstacle courses.

Our tentative schedule will be six weeks of clinics offered on Sunday mornings from April 30th to June 11th (June 18th rain date) at Payson Park.

Registrations will be through the Portland Recreation Department and their online registration page. We are still working out the final details and registration is not open yet.

If your son or daughter is in the 2nd grade and has some lacrosse experience already, they can join the town team with 3rd and 4th graders. Practices are typically twice a week and a game against another town on weekends.

News Center Maine Features Back Bay Lacrosse

Back Bay Lacrosse was recently featured by News Center Maine's reporter Chris Costa on our efforts to grow lacrosse in the city of Portland through free clinics.

In addition to being an anchor at News Center Maine, Chris is a volunteer coach with the program. He grew up playing in Massachusetts at Newton South high school and later played club lacrosse at Boston University.
